Heart Buddy

VI. For the Love of Shreeky “Hurry Beastly Get her into a secure room before she flies away ”, No Heart shouted at the little furry pig. “I’m trying No Heart, I’m trying ”, he replied. Using a rope he tried lassoing one of her legs. But her patterns were so ill regular, that it took several attempts until he finally was able too snag her left ankle. Then, with Shreeky in tow, he steered her towards the small room. While in route, she started signing the Oscar Meyer song whilst floating upside down. Beastly had too admit that her new attitude had done wonders for her voice. Normally the child couldn’t hold a note worth nothing “Good work Beastly. Now keep her inside until she calms down.” “And where will you be oh Lord of the Shadows?” “Away on business I must pay Care-a-Lot an overdue visit Only their will I find the answers I seek ” With that he lifted his too the sky. A few smatterings in a strange, foreign tongue and his body became engulfed in mystical smoke. When it had cleared No Heart was no where too be seen. I his place stood a massive whirlwind. From within the twister his hideous laugh could be heard. The funnel could took off through a window and Beastly was left behind. ****** Care-a-Lot had recovered from Shreekys’ attack and things were back too normal. Though their day hadn’t been boring. For it was a busy day on earth. More kids then ever needed their help. Wether it was someone being bullied or a young girl who had lost her confidence. Not one bear was without a duty. Except Bedtime Bear, who’s main duties were reversed for nightly activity. And it was he who first felt the ominous force. He had just gotten up for a drink of water when he first sensed it. That stale, bitter smell in the air. Normally the air in Care-a-Lot was crisp and healthy. That afternoon it had a distinct scent of smoke amongst it. Which only happened when the Kingdom of Caring was being invaded by evil. And there was only one it could be. That being the dark wizard No Heart, their arch nemesis When Bedtime Bear sensed his presence he dashed out of his house and ran for the, ‘Bad guy Alarm’. Though he didn’t need too use it, for even the Caring Meter was spinning out of control Which it did when anything of pure hate closed in. Sure enough, he could see the vile tornado vastly moving toward the city. “Alarm ”, he shouted as he pulled down on the cord, sounding off the siren. “Alarm No Heart approaches Care-a-Lot Alarm All Care Bears, all Care Bear Cousins We are under attack ” ‘Look at them. Scurrying below like a pack of ants at a picnic. How small they look from up, how small they are compared too my might ’, the wizard thought too himself as he hovered over in his wind form. Back in Care-a-Lot, the alarm echoed across the clouds. Care bears and their cousins came from every direction, heeding the sirens call. Within minutes they arrived, gazing up at the approaching twister that was No Heart. The tornado cloud swooped down and landed on cluster of clouds. With a flash of lightening and smoke, the winds expelled revealing No Heart in his true form. “In the name of niece Shreeky, I have come for answers ”, he cried with a loud voice. “I do not wish too fight with you. For my appearance here is not an acted of aggression, unless you bring it before me.” No sooner had he said this then four cloud cars came at him. He could see the tiny, bear drivers at the helm. He raised his hand and bolts of light shoot out. Each one striking them, cutting through them and sending their cargo falling too the clouds below. “That’s enough No Heart ”, came several voices from his right. He turned too see six Cloud Chariots land a few yards from his position. Their stood Fun Shine, Share, Cheer Bear as well as Gentle Heart Lamb, Playful Heart Monkey and Treat Heart Pig. All standing at ready to defend themselves. “Surrender now No Heart ”, Cheer Bear called out. With that they began the countdown, ‘5..4..3..” ‘The fools Did I not say I wish not too fight ? So be it then ’ and with a wave of his arm he cast a crescent beam of energy at them. All six began their stares and calls towards it, but it hit them before one shot could be fired. All were knocked too the ground. “Did you not hear what I said ? I have business here, but none of it need be dealt in this manner. But I see you wish too engage me. Then I shall be happy too oblige.” With that he raised his hand too them and all rose into the air. Then, after speaking once more in that ancient tongue, the bears and their cousins started bouncing about. Knocking into each other like pinballs off bumpers. Across the way, on separate clouds, Secret Bear and Wish Bear shoot off their stares at the wizard. No Heart was taken back by this, shielding himself with his cloak. Firing back at them with his mystic bolts. Anger building up inside. For he only wished too speak with their leaders, not take part in any form of combat. Yet he was their enemy and had arrived unannounced. Nevertheless, despite these attacks, he had no real intent on doing them harm. Though at the moment flatting their offenses would make him feel all the more better. Yet he tired of this quickly and began casting a spell. “Imperell utmount incloseium ” and a reddish sphere inclosed around the wizard. The stares seemed unable to penetrate the magical globe. No Heart laughed too himself as the two bears’ stares ricocheted off the sphere. He fired a few bolts back at them. ‘Simple minded fools When will they learn they can never defeat me.’, he said too himself, firing more blasts towards the two bears. Meanwhile, Treat Heart Pig and Funshine Bear had gotten too their feet. Taking the advantage of No Hearts’ back too them. They shoot out their respected stare and call. Each one slamming hard into the sphere, yet having little effect. Except too alert him of their presence. Which he answered back with some fireworks of his own. Soon he was caught in a crossfire from both sides. Though either call nor stare could penetrate his shielding. None halted their attack, which in turn made No Heart more upset. Could they not see that their efforts were in vain? He was too well protected at the moment. Yet both sides continued their assault. Either giving in, though Secret Bear was growing tired. “Don’t quit now Secret Bear. We have too keep fighting, if we stop he wins ” Secret Bear, using her sign language told Wish Bear that her stare was almost drained. And this minor lose of focus was all No Heart needed. Taking the opportunity he cast a spell upon the cloud they stood on. Both bears began too sink into it’s depths. Soon they were neck deep in the cloud. And without their tummy symbols visible, they were defenseless. No Heart cackled loudly at this, but his rejoicing would be short lived. Far up ahead, some of the cloud car drivers had regained their composure. Atop the massive cloud, four Care bears stood, letting loose their stares at the wizard. “Keep it up ”, they could hear Tender Heart Bear call out too them. “His spell has too wear out soon ” But Brave Heart Lion and several others weren’t about too wait. No Heart had already done plenty of damage. They weren’t going too let him have another chance. And they fired off their calls and stares in his direction. Even all this didn’t seem too phase the shield one bit. Everything they threw at him only bounced off. And the wizard, laughing manically, called out too them. Telling them too seize this pathetic and utterly useless battle. That they were helpless before him. That their efforts would only prolong the enviable. But none of them did. Instead they strengthened their attacks. Which only angered him further, until he could no longer hold it in. In a flash of light and the roar of thunder, bolts shoot from the sphere. Both parties took cover as best they could. Some stood their ground, firing off their stares. This enraged No Heart and he slammed both hands too the ground. As he did this the wave of raw energy burst forth from the shield. It spread across the sky, smacking each bear and cousin, knocking them down. Still Brave Heart and his troops kept on fighting. “You fools When will you learn ”, the wizard cursed as he floated down too the ground. The sphere landed, smashing the ground with a violent force. “Now End this useless fight or I shall make you sorry Don’t make me unveil my full power on you all ” His warning did little too slow their attack down. That was all he could take. He was tired of playing around with them. He wasn’t going too waste anymore time, playing such childish games with the likes of them. Raising his arms too the sky he chanted something in the same ancient tongue. Dark clouds began too form around the city. Care-a-Lot grew dark. The siren had ceased and the Caring Meter all but stopped dead Soon all the bears and their cousins had stopped firing their calls and stares. Every eye was glued too the skies above. The menacing clouds encircling everything. Thunder shock all around and lighting rained down. Striking the ground with it’s might. Almost all took shelter, for they had never encountered such a force before. They had battled No Heart and his minions more then they could count. Never once had he displayed such power. It seemed too all he was ready too rip Care-a-Lot apart “NOW I suggest you call off your little fight, or we shall see what develops next ”, the wizard hissed. Both Tender Heart and Brave Heart called for a cease fire. Ordering all bears and cousins too halt any and all attacks until told otherwise. For they now were facing the true No Heart. The very powers he had held back for some many of years. Now surfacing for all too see and tremble before. And as they did, the wizard lowered his arms. The dark clouds slowly vanished as if they had never been. The ground stopped shaking the lighting all but quit. And the sphere which had protected the dark wizard had dispersed. “Now, we must talk.”, No Heart spoke in a more calmer voice. “Very well, we call a truce.”, Tender Heart announced. “You may discuss with us what you will. But we do it in their.”, and he pointed too The Hall of Hearts. Surely Tender Heart thought him as gullible as Beastly. He knew very well that The Hall of Hearts was strongly protected in as well as outside. His magic would be all but worthless inside. He figured that was why they wished too meet their. He would not have it “Then there is nothing too talk about No Heart. If you do not except, then you will be dealt with.” No Heart laughed at this. Had then not seen what he could do? Indeed they had, as Tender Heart put it. He also said that they knew now what he was capable of. That this didn’t threaten them. For what else could he possibly do that he already had not. Other then breaking his only rule. That he would never take a life. “Very well Tender Heart Bear. I shall accompany you, but only you.” He shook his head and informed him that all members of The Counsel of Care Bears must be present. That of course included Brave Heart Lion, Grumpy Bear, Cheer Bear, Gentle Heart Lamb, Bright Heart Raccoon, Wish Bear and Playful Heart Monkey. Eight in all. “So be it ”, No Heart spoke. Than follows the small group down a rainbow path. Within moments he is in a place he would never of thought he would be in. The Hall of Hearts was a sacred building in Care-a-Lot. A place which housed the very essence of the Kingdom of Caring. It seemed much larger then it did from outside. The bright interior nearly blinded the wizard. In the center laid a large, heart-shaped table, with chairs seated around it. Many gatherings must have taken place. Though he wasn’t the least bit interested in it’s history. He couldn’t stand being inside. It wasn’t the most pleasant of places for him. Too No Heart it is a place of dread. He could sense everything inside. Nothing that pleased him either. He was choked by all the pleasantries that imitated from within. He hated everything it represented, and yet he was their. Ready and willing too plead his case. Tender Heart Bear and Brave heart Lion took their place at the head of the table. No sooner had the two leaders seated themselves, that the rest joined them. Taking hold of a heart-shaped gavel, Tender Heart gave it a few taps, calling the meeting to begin. Then he addressed the counsel by saying, “Members of the Counsel of Care Bears. This meeting is now come too order. At this time the doors shall be shut and the guards assume their positions. Now let us all recite The Care Bears Code of Honor.” With that all members arose, hands over their hearts they repeated together: As Care Bears, we swear Too protect all life from malice and harm In duty, we strive too keep peace, love and caring from all harm Too be at hand to defend the caring in the world Too uphold it from all how seek it’s destruction Honor through trust Trust through caring Caring through love Love through family Tender Heart gave the gavel several more taps. Each member, as well as No Heart took their seat. Tender Heart began in the usual manner. He called the meeting too order. Addressing what was too be discussed. Then he gave the floor too No Heart and allowing him too speak. Which brought about much whispering among the members. “Calm down, calm down.”, Brave Heart spoke. “No Heart has asked too speak with us. Even though he is an enemy, we must honor his wishes.” Though some spoke up, saying that his appearance had brought no honor. He was their enemy and that he shouldn’t be trusted. Again Tender Heart tapped the table, calling for order. He knew how they felt, some in the room had felt his wraith up close. He as well felt unsure of his intentions, but for now it was his turn to explain himself. “Now No Heart, speak.” No Heart sat at the end of the table. All eyes were on him now. Judging by the way they looked, he wasn’t the most welcome person in the room. Though they were at least giving him this time too explain himself. At the time he felt he should start the conversation with something witty. Perhaps a simple gesture of gratitude for allowing him too speak. Maybe an acknowledgment too the honor of being in such a place as The Hall of Hearts. A very fine establishment that it was. Yet he decided too pass on it. Knowing full well they wouldn’t believe a word of it. He certainly didn’t want too waste anyone’s time, especially his own. Therefore, he went straight to the heart of the matter, with no pun intended. He began with a few questions, all relating too the unexpected visit by his niece. He was relieved too learn that Beastly had told him the truth. He also made it known too all that Shreeky’s presence in Care-a-Lot was not his doing. Under no circumstances was she obeying any orders by him. The purpose of her actions was too gain some sense of pride in him. Which he pointed out was unnecessary. “I have always been proud of her. She needn’t ask, nor earn it in any manner.” “And what does that have too do with you being here?”, Grumpy Bear asked. Brave Heart agreed. They all knew that Shreeky had attacked them several weeks ago. Stating also that she didn’t seem too have a well throughout plan. That she did very little damage, not as much as her uncle had on this day. No Heart was impressed that he was able too make eye contact during all this. He must have had plenty of courage within him too do such a thing. Though he wasn’t amused either. He had come too find answers. All he heard so far was nothing more then a list of possible damages done too their property. It sounded more like a small insurance company, trying too collect a bill on a minor car wreck. This along angered him. “Is this all I get ? I mere, random charge of property damage? Are you trying too be funny Brave Heart, or just trying my patience.” “You asked about your nieces’ evolvement of a recent invasion upon the Kingdom of Caring. The results of that occurrence has been brought forward. We are not here too pass judgement or ridicule you in any way.” He would’ve laughed at this if his thoughts weren’t so heavy concerning Shreeky. And he didn’t stop himself from letting them know. He wanted them too know all that they had done too her. She was in fact, one of the most selfish, uncaring, mean, nasty and spoiled girl he ever knew. And that they had ruined her completely He told them all that their was a time when she cared little for noone. Now thanks too them, she thinks only of others Never once did she want too do with chores. Now she helps out without even asking permission. And that since her return too the castle, she had wanted too give him a hug every ten seconds The he asked him if they were happy. Overjoyed that they finally outdone him. For thanks too their meddling he hasn’t had a decent nights sleep since. That the person now currently living at the castle was not his niece. She had changed and for the worst. “As I speak too you, my niece is being held within a small room. Flying about the air, with a rainbow trailing behind. And turning everything she touches pink I suppose too you that may seem normal. Just another day in your world, but not in mine ” This alone was what had brought himself before them. A cure for Shreeky. He wanted them too fix her, too change her back to the way she was. “Are you crazy No Heart?”, Grumpy spoke out. “We didn’t do anything too your niece.” He just had too use that word. Grumpy Bear was about too find out how crazy the wizard had become. For he was almost at that point. Reading and waiting for the men and white coats too come haul him off. Looking forward too a padded cell and fresh apple sauce. He surely felt they would think it was funny. Seeing old No Heart in a straight jacket. “But No Heart, we don’t aren’t trying to make you crazy.”, Playful Heart said. “That’s right. That would be mean and quite unsound.”, Gentle Heart added. “Then change my niece back too how she was then ” Brave Heart calmly explained too the wizard that it was not possible. The care bears, though they help out anyone in distress, can not simply change ones personality. No matter the situation, it was the persons’ own choice too make that change themselves. In other words, it was impossible for them too take such a request. No Heart took this as a flat out rejection. The reason they wouldn’t do it wasn’t because they couldn’t, but that they choose not too. And why not? He after all was a villain. And they had no business dealing out favors too those that apposed them. “No Heart. That’s not it at all. A Care bear can only do so much. Even if we were the cause of Shreeky’s personality problem. We can’t just snap our fingers and make someone good bad.” But no matter how Tender Heart put it, he wouldn’t listen. No Heart kept getting more enraged until he was practically shacking in his seat. He felt he had done this all for nothing. He had been rejected, and by the ones who were too blame. Placing his hands on the table he eyed each of them. Telling them that they didn’t understand. How could they? They were all one big happy family. As for him, Shreeky was the only thing close too family he had left. The one person he actually liked. One would say he even, if he could say the word, ‘cared’ about her. But now that child was gone. Taken from him by a bunch of colorful teddy bears. And now face to face with them, they refused too help. Denying all fault, as if it were his doing. He felt so helpless that even his voice was changing. From a ruthless tyrant, too that of a bitter man wallowing in defeat. He started too plead for their help. Offering them all his possessions, money, anything they wished. He even got down on his knees. Some would say he was on the verge of tears. “I beg of you Please...please help me ” Their response was the same as before, though they were moved with pity. Finally the wizard could take it no more and flung himself too the ground. Pounding his fists and kicking his feet. Wailing aloud about how unfair it all was. That all he asked was too have his Shreeky back “This is pathetic ”, Grumpy was heard saying. He wondered if he should either pity the old man or give him a diaper change. “They are right Mr. No Heart.”, a soft voice spoke out. “We’re the ones that did it.” No Heart looked up too see two small bears staring at him. The first thing out of his mouth was, “Now who are these two ?” Both Tender heart and Brave heart found it hard not too smile. Even though the two present weren’t members of the counsel. How they actually got in was a question for a later date. For now introductions were in order. “No Heart, meet Hugs and Tugs, the youngest members of the Care Bear Family.” ‘Babies?’, he thought. It couldn’t be possible. They were just cubs. More then likely unable too use their stares yet. How could they have had any part in it? The only way he was going too get ans answer was too ask them. And ask them he did, though the response wasn’t much help. According to the cubs, Shreeky was so angry and mean, they felt she needed a hug. “A Hug ?”, No Heart said trying too remain his composure. “You mean too tell me that all my problems were caused by a hug ? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard ” “But it’s true Mr. No Heart.”, Tugs said. “Yes, but...a hug?” “It wasn’t just a hug Mr. No Heart.”, Hugs chimed in. “It was our ‘Shining Love Hug’ ” He cared little what it was called. He still couldn’t believe that something as simple, as well as disgusting as a hug could change anyone. Too his surprise some of the bears and cousins had their own doubts. Even if they saw it with their own eyes, which many had. For the hug itself held many enigmas too it. One of them was it’s properties. The cubs tried explaining it the best they could. From what they said their ‘Shining Love Hug’, as they called it. Combined the warmth of their hearts into one, solid, warm bubble. As far as what this did, all they could say was that it helped warm a person’s heart. Which is what seemed too be happening with Shreeky. Bright Heart didn’t think it too be scientifically possible, but from what he witnessed. It might very well be feasible. Though none of it really answered the question. How could one hug change a persons’ attitude. The cubs found this one too be as easy as 1+1. “Our hug must have warmed her heart. That’s why she’s nice now.” No Heart still didn’t buy into it. There was no way such a thing could happen. He insisted that the cubs were wrong. This, of course, didn’t change his mind about them being responsible. Still, all of this didn’t quite answer the question. Several of the counsel were still confused. If the cubs’s hug indeed have the ability too warm ones heart. Why then would it change someone the likes of Shreeky. “I have it ”, Bright Heart shouted. “Well, not entirely, but I do believe I’ve solved the dilemma. First off, I don’t think it was Hugs and Tugs’s hug itself. That wouldn’t be possible. Knocking her out is one thing. Changing her way of thinking is another. However, if the two were somehow combined and interacted with Shreeky’s thought process. Chances of this occurring are at a 67% possibility.” Brave Heart shook his head and ask for an English translation. What he got back was this. Both the hugs’ power and Shreeky’s mind became one. Basically it opened her heart too all that was good. Making her from bad too good, if it were possibly that is. Though according too his figures, such a thing could only last several hours. “Hours ? It’s been going on for eight weeks now ”, No Heart blurted out. “Eight weeks? That can’t be right. My calculations are never wrong.”, Bright Heart argued. “Well they are now and I have the proof back at my castle. Would you like too see for yourself?” With that an argument erupted between the two. Very soon more came into play. But it was Tender Heart that broke it up. For he believed he had the answer too it all. Both Bright Heart, No Heart and the cubs were right, in their own ways. The hug did knock Shreeky out, as well as change her persona. Bright Heart was also right about it lasting for a short period of time. No Heart as well was right that the effect could be prolonged. Yet in order for that too happen, his niece would have too make the change herself. No Heart scoffed at this. How could she make a change, she liked who she was. Why would she ever choose too be different. She never asked for it nor wanted it in the first place. But several of the counsel challenged this by asking him, “Have you ever talked too her about her feelings.” He thought they had all gone mad. Why would he talk with his niece about such things. She wouldn’t have cared anyway. Yet they asked him if he was sure of this. She was in fact a young girl. Though she was a villain of theirs. It didn’t mean she was all bad. More lost within herself for the most part. Being around someone like her uncle can change someone’s point of view, especially a child. It certainly didn’t mean she was all mean and nasty. Though she had said before she loved it. That again was her way of thinking, but not necessarily how she felt. No Heart scoffed again, “My niece doesn’t feel anything, and she has no heart ” “You only think that.”, Tender Heart stated. “You said so yourself you’ve known her since she was a young girl. What about when she was younger? Did you know her then?” He said yes and no. He wasn’t too fond of little kids, babies mostly. Didn’t like all that chattering and crying. So no he didn’t know her all her life, as if he felt it counted. He did remember one time, most likely when she was a newborn. His brother wanted a picture of him and baby Shreeky. He, of course, wanted nothing too do with it. That didn’t stop his brother from handing her too him. After that he didn’t remember much else. He knew she had a copy of that pictured framed. Heaven knows where it was now. He didn’t even know how she looked in it. Wether she was happy or sad he could care less. He wasn’t too pleased about himself. So again he didn’t know her back then. He did know her now and that’s all that mattered too him. Neither of the counsel were impressed. Too them he had completely erased her youth from his mind. Only keeping the ones he wished too remember. That wasn’t going too go well with any of them. He knew absolutely nothing about her. Only the facts that she was interested in magic and wanted too pleas him. In a way she was looking for his love, which he either couldn’t or wouldn’t give her. That all rested on him alone. The point was he had no idea who his niece really was. What she wanted or even liked. If she did something bad he rewarded her. Only because she was following his example and not her own. After this Tender Heart was more then sure about his hypothesist. That their was still some good deep down in her. Hugs and Tugs’s hug merely opened it just a hair. It was her true self that excepted what the hug gave. In turn she didn’t really change. The hug only reopened what had been buried all along. She choose too be this way and because of this they couldn’t help him. Yet No Heart thought differently. So obsessed was he of getting his niece back, he had heard hardly anything at all. He had his own ideas of how too make her better. Since the two cubs gave her the hug, then they must also know how too reverse it. It was his intention too bring them back with him. The counsel wasn’t about too let that happen. “Too late my furry fools You may have robbed me of my magic for a time. However, I have other means at my disposal.” With that he reached into his cloak and pulled out a small vial. Throwing it too the floor their was a small bang, followed by smoke. Afterward he was gone, as if he had vanished from site. The room grew deathly silent. No one had moved, all remained where they were. Their eyes looking about. Yet their was no trace of the wizard anywhere. All that remained was the shattered vial on the ground. “Impossible ”, Bright Heart said. “Not impossible Bright Heart. Remember, we’re dealing with a magic user here. Lord only knows what was in that bottle.” “Well I’m not getting any readings on him anywhere. Like I said it’s impossible. He couldn’t of changed into something. The Hall of Hearts dispels all evil. And there’s no other way out besides the front entrance. The windows are too small for a normal person too escape.” Yet they all knew escape wasn’t his plan, not at the moment. Cheer Bear wondered if he had shrunk himself. Bright Heart tried scanning for any movement. Brave heart on the other hand used his keen eye site. Though he wished that Proud Heart Cat was here. Her site was much better then his. Still, they could find no trace of No Heart. Tender heart ordered the guards to stay as they were. The front doors were the only way in or out for him. “Wish Bear? Anything you can do with your wishing power?”, Tender Heart asked. Sadly he couldn’t. For even he couldn’t wish someone too appear, without calling their name. He doubted that it would work on someone like No Heart. “Playful Heart, anything on your end?”, Brave Heart asked. “Sorry Brave Heart. I’m not sensing any activity over here. You don’t think he could teleport himself outside do you?” “Not likely. He wants Hug and Tugs, so leaving right now would be a wasteful effort on his part.” “Well, unless he’s turned himself into a ghost....”, Gentle Heart suggested. “Warm my little Care Bear. Very, very warm.”, a voice called from the room. “He’s.....he’s made himself invisible ”, shouted Bright Heart, who couldn’t believe it if he hadn’t heard him. “How right you are Bright Heart. Now I have much too discuss with your saplings. So if you don’t mind, hand them over.” “Nothing doing No Heart ”, Brave Heart spoke and shoot out his call towards the voice. While the cubs ran behind Tender Heart for cover. Laughter echoed through the place. “You simple-minded cat You can’t stare what you can’t see ” Grumpy huffed, “This is the dumbest plan you’ve ever had No Heart We can’t see you but we can hear you. And the only way out is through those doors. Face it You’ve just trapped yourself in here for good now ” The wizard just laughed at the blue bear. How idiotic were his threats. Did he actually think he hadn’t thought of this? It he think he had only brought one of his alchemic spells with him. No, he was well prepared for all things possible. He had three more in his possession. Several of which were quite nasty. But he found this one too be quite enjoyable. He never knew that being invisible could be so much fun. He loved the fact that they were helpless. All the better too taunt them he thought. Just for fun he kick a nearby chair with his foot. Naturally the thought he had bumped into it. Three blasts went out toward that direction. All missed it’s target and he laughed heartily at this. It was most amusing watching his enemies become fools. He couldn’t help put call out, “Missed me ” to them. Then he began skipping about taunting the twelve of them. “You can’t get me, you can’t get me ”, he merrily sang too them. Yet, with all his fun and games, he had forgotten one important thing. His amulet. The source of all his spell casting and metamorphosing powers. Carried within it its own light. It was this light that penetrated through his invisibility. Once they saw it, they knew exactly where he was and fired at it. “What the...?”, No Heart cried as a stare hit him. ‘How can this be? I’m invisible, untouchable ’, he thought as another stare slapped against him. He ordered them too stop as if he had control of the situation. “Keep pouring it on He can’t take much more of this ”, Brave Heart said and fired more calls toward the amulets’ light. Soon he was being hit by eight, or ten counting both guards. The stares and calls kept smacking into him and boy did they hurt For he hated feelings altogether and being attacked by ones love and kindness was a Chinese torture too him. “Stop it ”, he roared, but the onslaught continued. Firing their warm rays of love at him. And with every hit he took, the more his invisibility began too wear off. Until it dispensed completely and he was once again visible too them. “NOOO ”, he cried. “I had won I had won I had won ”, he shouted, throwing a fit on the floor. Once again Grumpy couldn’t resist telling him how silly he looked acting that way. “Alright No Heart Your game has ended, now I must ask you too leave.”, Tender Heart said his tummy symbol at standby for another stare. “Wait Do not send me away I need them ”, he said pointing in the direction of the cubs. Once again they hid behind Tender Heart. Begging him not too let the bad man take them away. He smiled down at them, reassuring them it would never happen. Once more he ordered the wizard too leave the hall and Care-a-Lot. “You don’t understand Tender Heart. They have the cure. They gave out that hug. They must know how too reverse it. I must have their secret ” But there was no secret too begin with. Not even the cubs themselves knew much about it. It was their first time using it. “No Heart, we’ve said this before. We can’t change someone in that way. We’ve told you that your niece has excepted the hug and her new life. There is no cure I suggest you leave now and life with it ” But the wizard started too sob once more. Cursing them for not lending their aid too him. Telling them they had no idea what it was like. That he had suffered so much these eight weeks. He could bare no more of it. “I don’t think I can bare anymore of his wailing. Anyone got a pacifier?”, asked Grumpy. Tender Heart tried too get No Heart too calm down, but it seemed useless. The poor man had taken too much. And now too be defeated by the ones he asked for assistance was too much. “Please Oh please Make my Shreeky better ” “No Heart stop it This crying isn’t going too help anyone ”, Cheer scolded. “Tender Heart told you we can’t do anything. Now please, leave Care-a-Lot. Deal with this problem the best way you can.” At that moment, Bright Heart had an idea, though it sounded silly too him. Nevertheless, he brought it up. “You know, I’ve been thinking. If Hugs and Tugs’ Shining Love Hug made Shreeky a good person. What would happen if it was met by a different force? I mean what if she were given an Anti-hug?” “An anti-what? ”, Brace Heart asked. “An Anti-hug Brave Heart. One devoid of all feeling and love.”, and he looked at No Heart. “What ? Are you out of your fuzzy, little mind ? Me? The master of all evil, give my niece a h...hu.....”, he couldn’t say the word. Tender Heart though this through and believed it could work. He asked Bright Heart for a percentage of success. He went through the numbers as always and felt it might be worth a try. “But I can’t do that ”, argued the wizard. “I hate showing affection too anyone ” “All the more reason that it should work. We won’t force you too go through with this. It is now up too you No Heart. May you make the right decision. For you but mostly for your niece.” The doors to the Hall of Hearts opened and all walked outside. No Heart looked back at Tender Heart and then at the cubs. Looking up into the sky he turned once more into a tornado and flew away. Not a word did he say, not even a thank you. Which all expected from him. Cheer Bear stared at him, “Do you think he’ll do the right thing Tender Heart?” Tender Heart closed his eyes and searched within his own heart for the answer. He opened his eyes. “Yes, I do believe he will Cheer. I do believe in deed.” |
