![]() i had that as a kid! i remember the lip stuff mostly I'll look and see if i can find out if it's still out there for you...i'm curious too ![]() EDIT: ok, i found this bit of info online about Tinkerbell cosmetics with pictures as well as this article from the manufacturer: Tinkerbell revamps cosmetics line for girls. GREENWICH, Conn. -- Although Tinkerbell Inc.'s collection of cosmetics for young girls has been in stores for more than 45 years, the line has undergone a major makeover since being acquired by Renaissance Cosmetics Inc. in late 1996. "This is a line that has been re-launched, repackaged and re-priced," says general manager Lisa Yarnell. 'Everything has changed but the name. We have taken every conceivable item in the teen cosmetics category and created a formulation for little girls." She notes that the line, which ranges from lipsticks and nail polishes to body glitter and temporary tatoos, is formulated specifically for young girls. The nail polish, for example, can be peeled off without the use of removal agents, while the nail polish bottle itself is designed to be spill-proof even if turned upside down. All of the products are made to be safe, nontoxic and easy to use. Although Yarnell says there was little marketing support for the brand before it was acquired by Renaissance, she stresses that the situation has changed significantly in the months since the acquisition was finalized. Aside from a full range of new products, including seasonal items and the addition of new accessories, Tinkerbell has embarked on a host of promotional activities. For instance, a contest that asks girls, "Why are you a Tinkerbell Kid?" will run for the remainder of the year. Participants can submit an essay of 25 words or less or an original drawing in response to the question. The contest will be supported with a full-page ad in Glamour magazine as well as other beauty and children's publications. For the coming fall and Halloween seasons the supplier is planning an ambitious slate of product introductions, including nail art highlighted by holograms and "mood lips,' a lip color that changes shades while being worn. A Halloween program will mark the first time the company has rolled out products aimed at capitalizing on the holiday. Included will be removable tattoos with a scary theme as well as lipstick and nail polish in the traditional Halloween colors of black and orange. There will also be wands that add either white or green highlights to hair which can be easily washed out, as well as face paint and body art stamps with a Halloween theme. For the Christmas season Tinkerbell plans to introduce rainbow lip gloss, roll-on body glitter and a number of other gift ideas, including a jewelry case, a purse and a compact, each packaged with assortments of cosmetics. Yarnell says the line works best when merchandised in the cosmetics section. Frequently women shopping for their own needs will buy a Tinkerbell item on impulse for a daughter or a niece. Girls accompanying their mothers to the store are also likely to he more enthusiastic about items in the line if they view them as beauty products rather than toys. She notes that the growing popularity of cosmetics aimed at teenage girls has led to increased interest on the part of preteens. The attention being paid to the category, coupled with the company's new product and promotional activity, portends a bright future for Tinkerbell, according to Yarnell. "This is a unique, booming business," she comments, adding that the supplier is offering retailers a variety of merchandising vehicles, including countertop displays, power wings and clip strips as well as permanent displays. "We anticipate that our business will grow 20% to 40% over the next five years," says Yarnell. "We have a quality line that is formulated for safety, that lets girls have fun and be creative. We are very excited about the future." Tinkerbell Inc.
