Collecting News Sweet Sakura Bear, designed by Elena herself, has hit the stores in full force in Japan. Sweet Sakura is symbolic of the cherry blossoms in Japan and is a quiet and shy girl. Unfortunately, nothing new is being released (to our knowledge) in any English speaking parts of the world. | ||

I'm so happy that classic animation isn't a thing of the past. Pixar does a great job with it's movies but some things just can't be captured in CGI *cough* carebears *cough* Ahh disney products: made for kids by kids. |

Yay for 2D!! I miss the good old Disney movies that I grew up on, I've been waiting for them to put out another one (I thought they were done too) so I'm very happy to hear they're trying it out again!

I love the old 2D stuff! Some things, like the care bears, just don't look as good in 3D when your used to seeing them the other way... |

I wonder why they want to make 2D animation films again? Before this, they were acting like 2D doesn't have a future. |

I'm guessing it has at least a little bit to do with Eisner resigning and Roy E. Disney coming back as a consultant to the company. hopefully this will just be the start of what's to come for Disney in the future. |

Yay! I'm so happy that 2D animation is being given another chance, especially with people associated with my favorite Disney movie (The Little Mermaid)! I had heard somewhere that Disney put 2D on the back burner for a while after Treasure Planet bombed at the box office...it happened to coincide with the success of all the CGI Dreamworks hits and the fact that their works with Pixar were more popular. Personally I just didn't see TP because the subject didn't really appeal to me, but I guess they saw that as being that 2D just wasn't desirable anymore. I'm happy they're going for it again! |

I like the 3D animation for somethings, mainly the new creations that involve people. 3d computer stuff just can't make "cuddly" characters (like Care Bears) I like the 2D stuff too.....especially when it comes to the traditional characters from Disney. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Pooh, Eeyore and all of them are not meant to be 3D. Disney should do a mixture of 2 and 3-D animations with their new movies but keep traditional characters in their traditional 2D form.
I'll always remember the Eisner guy from the introductions to the tv movies in the early 90s. Hopefully with the Disney family in the company again, we will see a lot more traditional disney style movies....instead of just making a sequeal to EVERY cartoon classic

You've made Mr. Flibbles very cross...

Sounds to me like Disney is running out of ideas. I hate how now a day they are rehashing old fairytales. Some of the tails, like Cindrella, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast, were really good. Most of the stuff now is a bit cliche and pop culture humor. I'll wait for it to come out on cable. Don't know if I'm looking forward to it or not. Sounds like some really good people are going to be involved, but still, the last few films they've churned out haven't even been close to stellar, not like the films of the late 80's/early 90's. And while we're on the topic, what ever happened to "Rapunzel: Unbraided"? It was supposed to be drawn traditionally, and then put through some computer process to make the colors look like they were oil-paints (or something like that). Glen Keane was said to have been helming that project, so at least the characters would've looked AWESOME! For those who don't know, Mr. Keane was the supervising/lead animator for Ariel and Aladdin. He's the BEST!!!
