Unregistered	FFCBB had this really cool thing before Sherri left, it gave a really good sense of community to the........community. Basically the most involved member is noted as the member of the month. Cool idea?

MoMo* Posts: 1,493 Group: Members Member #14 Joined: December 11, 2005	I honestly dont think that we should have a MOTM here because some members may feel left out if they arent chosen, because on the FFCBB it was more like a popularity contest then anything else. I just dont think it would be a good idea & plus I think we want to get our own stuff on the board and not copy what other boards have done in the past.

Unregistered	I dont think thats a good idea either.. because on ffcbb it seemed like the same people were always picked for everything.. and its really not fair. I think that might happen here too.. so I wouldnt like doing it!

This board is much more active then the FFCBB ever was so there's no way we could even choose a MOTM and be fair about it since there's so many great, active members on this board. Like Amie said, we're all equal here. Let's not make it a competition.

I thought it was very important to show appreciation to members and to make the board more of a community. I'm happy to see that you felt that way about it. I think it's a great idea-- when it works. But I think there were some major problems that occurred because of it. So as much as I liked it I guess the past has shown that it takes a great deal to make it work well. It's too bad. :applejack:

I liked the idea at first on the other board but it was like the same few people got the award over and over. It would be too hard to select criteria to make guidelines to even get people to qualify. What are some other ideas to show member appreciation? I'm definetly up for ideas on that! But I'd like things that don't single out one person above the rest.

I think it will make posting look like a competition. We will end up getting posts that simply say one or two words just so that they can have a post. I do think that hosting little contests or fundraisers is not a bad idea. Maybe a sillyest pic of the month, a poll for who should win the sillyest pic, etc. Please keep this in mind. You do sound like you are on to something fun, but I just think that competing for post numbers is a bad idea. Keep your brain churning! Teacher Bear

Unregistered	I think a contest/drawing every now and again would be lots of fun! Members who wish to participate could purchase "raffle tickets" for $1.00 each. I would be willing to donate a plush Care Bear as a prize. Any other ideas/suggestions??

I'd be willing to help set something up like a maybe a different contest or drawing every month...sounds fun to me!

MotM wasn't supposed to be a popularity contest or a post contest, but it ended up that way becuase it's so hard to pick just one person in a community that is so active and has so many members.

Unregistered	Ooh, I agree with contests instead of MOTM! That would be fun, and we could all use our creative sides! I like the idea of silliest pic, maybe we should do something like that. I have seen on pet forums fun ideas for pic contests, like "best yawn". I think we'd get some cute pics for contests. I also like the raffle idea, they did that a couple of times on FF and I think it turned out okay. And maybe a poetry contest of some sort would be fun. Keep the ideas coming!
